The Mpod Macular Pigment Screener
Supplements such as lutein and zeaxanthin can improve macular pigment or mpod. (macular pigment optical density) Age related macular disease or macular disease (ARMD or AMD) has been linked to low macular pigment levels. Clinical trials have shown that lutein and zeaxanthin can improved the macular pigment optical density.
The Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester, in partnership with British manufacturer Tinsley, has achieved a breakthrough in the development of a low cost, easy to use densitometer for measuring the Macular Pigment Optical Density and makes an affordable macular pigment measurement available to every clinic and practitioner.
